Qatar convinces Hezbollah to change stance in Beirut II

A source said that a “change of heart” followed Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Ministers Hamad Bin Jassem Al-Thani’s “interference” in the elections, following an accusation that, he convinced Hezbollah to change its stance regarding candidate for the Sunni seat in the Beirut II district Nohad al-Mashnouq, Al-Hayat newspaper reported on Friday.

Hezbollah previously informed the March 14 alliance that it would neither vote for Mashnouq nor for March 8 candidate for the Sunni seat Adnan Araqji in order to maintain “negative neutrality.”

Loyalty to Resistance bloc MP Amin Sherri confirmed that Hezbollah will vote for Mashnouq as well as for the opposition candidate for the seat in the same district, Hani Qobeissy, reported the daily.
