Issa accuses Fatah al-Islam of assassination attempt

Colonel Mahmoud Abdel Hamid Issa, head of the Fatah military wing in Ain al-Hilweh, announced Sunday that Fatah al-Islam is behind Friday’s attempted assassination attempt against him.

He told NBN TV that the assassination attempt is linked to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ upcoming visit to Lebanon.

Issa also specifically named Fatah al-Islam official Oussama al-Chehaby of being behind the attack.

The National News Agency reported on Friday that a Palestinian man called Mahmoud Abdel Qader and another man attempted to plant an explosive device in a residential neighborhood in Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp “minutes before” Issa was scheduled to pass on the same road.
