Kidnapping of Turkish pilots
strikes Lebanon’s tourism

The kidnapping of two Turkish pilots on Beirut’s airport road has struck Lebanon’s tourism sector which is already suffering a severe decline.

 

Lebanon’s caretaker Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud said that “the kidnapping will have great negative repercussions on tourism, which calls for quickly addressing this issue which we denounce.”

 

“We have been working for a while on amending relations with Gulf countries… and we made progress but this particular incident in addition to other security mishaps [have caused us to suffer a setback],” Abboud said in an interview with Al-Mustaqbal newspaper published on Monday.

 

On Friday, gunmen kidnapped two pilots working for Turkish Airlines on Beirut's airport road as they were heading to their hotel.

This incident will have great negative repercussions which calls for quickly addressing this issue.
