Future Movement denies
fighting in Syria

The Future Movement on Tuesday denied allegations that groups belonging to the movement have been deployed in Syria and are providing both logistic support and soldiers to the rebels.

“Syria Today in addition to other pro-regime websites, has quoted sources close to the movement as saying that groups belonging to Future are deploying in Syria and are providing logistic support and fighters to the rebels,” the Sunni movement said in a statement.

The statement noted that “the sources also claimed that the Future movement will issue an official statement regarding the martyrs of The Rafiq Hariri Martyr Group,” adding that “these allegations are entirely unfounded.”

“The sources, on which this fabricated news is based, are the furthest [thing from the truth surrounding] the Future Movement… and it seems that the person who wrote the news has described reality incorrectly, since Hezbollah members are the ones fighting in Syria,” they stated.

The Future Movement stressed that its support for the Syrian uprising is solely “political, humanitarian and [by way of] the media.”

Elite fighters from Hezbollah are leading the fight against rebels in the region of Al-Qusayr in the central province of Homs.

Fighting in the area has spilled over into Lebanon, with rebels reportedly targeting border towns inside Lebanon in response to Hezbollah involvement in the conflict.
