Armenian schools, shops to close
in solidarity with town of Kasab

BEIRUT - Armenian schools and shops in Lebanon will close Tuesday from noon until 2pm in solidarity with the Armenian town of Kasab on the Syrian-Turkish border, which was recently seized by opposition fighters.

The closures were requested by the Armenian Tashnag, Ramgavar, and Henchag parties “in solidarity with the tragedy our people [are facing] in Kasab,” according to a Tashnag party statement released on Sunday.

Most of Kasab's Armenian residents fled the town where they had been the majority, after it was seized by rebel fighters allied with the jihadist Al-Nusra Front on Monday, March 24.

The closures were requested by the Armenian Tashnag, Ramgavar, and Henchag parties in solidarity with the tragedy our people [are facing] in Kasab.
