Army officer killed,
citizens injured in Tripoli

BEIRUT - A Lebanese Armed Forces officer was killed and two citizens were injured in the beleaguered northern city of Tripoli on Thursday.

 

Two masked gunmen opened fire at army Warrant Officer Fadi Gebeily, who died immediately, the National News Agency reported.

 

The assailants were driving a motorcycle and attacked Gebeily at around 6:30 a.m.

 

The NNA later reported that two men, identified as Yahyah and Ali Daher, were injured in Jabal Mohsen’s Sullam al-Arid by gunfire being exchanged between Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tebanneh.

 

Meanwhile, another ISF officer, Sergeant Samer Dandashi, narrowly escaped death when unknown assailants fired at him but failed to hit him, NOW’s correspondent reported.

 

Danadashi was on his way to work when he was attacked by the gunmen in the Tripoli neighborhood of Madafen Bab al-Ramel, the report noted.
