Syria’s Assad receives support of Sudanese counterpart

Sudanese President Omar Bachir voiced his support for Syria against “the attempts aimed at destabilizing it,” the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

According to SANA, Bashir’s message was delivered during a Wednesday meeting between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Sudanese Justice Minister Mohammad Bishara Dousa in Damascus.

Dozens have been confirmed killed in a spiral of violence that has gripped Syria since protests broke out on March 15, with demonstrators demanding major reforms.

The International Criminal Court indicted Bachir in March 2009 for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur.
