Dozens of demonstrators marched in support of the Syrian people in the Qobba neighborhood of North Lebanon’s Tripoli after the Muslim Friday prayers.
The National News Agency reported that the protest march ended at the Ibn Seena Square in Tripoli. However, it did not elaborate further.
Lebanon’s political scene is split between supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, led by Hezbollah, and a pro-Western camp headed by Saad Hariri.
Assad’s troops have cracked down on protests against almost five decades of Baath rule which broke out mid-March, killing over 3,000 people and triggering a torrent of international condemnation.
