Moussawi: Hezbollah’s fighting
in Syria part of war on “enemy”

A Hezbollah parliamentarian said on Monday that his party’s participation in the fighting in Syria is part of the resistance against Israel.

“The operations we are conducting in this place or in another is a part of our resistance against the enemy, because the war on Syria is nothing but a war led by Israel and the US,” Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Nawwaf al-Moussawi was quoted by the National News Agency as saying.

He added that the war against Syria aimed “turning it from a strategic depth for the resistance into a dagger that stabs it in its back.”

Moussawi also said that the US and Israel are using Takfiris and extremists “as tools to break up the national unity [of Syria].”

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah vowed in a televised address Tuesday evening that “friends” of the Syrian regime would not allow it to fall and that his party would defend Lebanese Shiites residing in Al-Qusayr.

Israeli raids early Sunday hit three military sites outside Damascus, the second such reported attack in 48 hours, prompting Syria's government to warn the strikes had made the regional situation "more dangerous."
