Hezbollah on Wednesday condemned accusations of its involvement in the unrest that has engulfed Bahrain, the National News Agency reported.
“The Bahraini authorities insist [on resuming] their unjust campaign against [us] by fabricating accusations that [we are] involved in [activities that harm Bahrain’s] security,” Hezbollah said in a statement.
“Such allegations aim to justify violence against the peaceful [protests] of the Bahraini people,” the party added and reiterated its stance supporting the “rightful demands” of the Bahraini people.
Tensions remain high in Bahrain where a month-long Shia-led uprising was crushed in March 2011. Demonstrations have intensified in recent months as protesters sporadically clash with the police.
