Hezbollah plan to kill Israeli official scrapped after boat raid, Al-Rai says

Hezbollah had planned to kill an important Israeli official, but the plan was dropped following the May 31 commando raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai reported on Tuesday, quoting a source close to the Hezbollah command.

The anonymous source said the plan was scrapped because the group did not want to divert attention away from the Israeli attack on the aid flotilla, which left nine Turkish activists dead.

The source also said the Hezbollah command has a plan in place to retaliate for any Israeli attempt to assassinate Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah or any other senior party official.
