Future bloc MP Khaled Daher on Monday called on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “to step down and flee” before facing the fate of embattled Libyan Leader Moammar Qaddafi.
“The Syrian people deserve [to be granted] freedom and dignity, and will never give up,” the National News Agency quoted him as saying.
“Some parties are trying to shut up our political support… for the oppressed Syrian people,” Daher added.
Libyan rebels on Sunday took control of most of Tripoli, while the whereabouts of Qaddafi are still unknown.
Assad’s regime has conducted a crackdown on anti-regime protests since mid-March.
