Saqr charges 15 men with
involvement in Qalamoun cell

BEIRUT - Government Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr charged on Thursday 15 people, including Salafist sheikh Sirajeddine Zureiqat, with involvement in a terror cell in the northern town of Qalamoun, known as the “Qalamoun Cell.”

Among the charged members were six detained men, who have formed the Jund al-Sham group in North Lebanon, and were trained at the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp and in Syria.

On Wednesday, the Lebanese Armed Forces announced that it rounded up a terrorist cell plotting the murder of a prominent security official in North Lebanon’s Qalamoun.

The LAF added that it will continue its investigations in order to arrest the remainder of the cell members and unveil their plots.
