Security forces arrest Syrian
man in light of Dahiyeh explosion

BEIRUT - In the light of the investigations into the explosion that took place in the Beirut neighborhood of Dahiyeh on Monday, Lebanese security forces arrested on Tuesday a Syrian man from the Raad family who was heading to the Beqaa town of Arsal to receive a sum of money promised to him in exchange for watching a number of streets in Beirut and providing information.

According to a report published Wednesday by An-Nahar newspaper, the Syrian man confessed of being paid $300 for each tip he gives, and that he was dealing with a man identified as Abu Mohannad, from the Beqaa town of Majdel Anjar.

Meanwhile, another security source told the daily that measures were reinforced following the Dahiyeh explosion, without having any information about a possible link between Monday’s explosion and the explosion that took place last week in the Beqaa area of Dahr al-Baydar.
