Two arrested for involvement
in Naim Abbas case

BEIRUT - Military Court Judge Fadi Sawwan arrested two men for their involvement in the case of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades official Naim Abbas.

Sawwan also issued two arrest warrants in absentia against Rahmah Taha and Youssef Chabatiyat, the National News Agency reported on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Jammal Daftardar was not taken to Sawwan's office due to his health condition, and the session was postponed until next Monday.

Military Investigative Judge Imad al-Zein issued another arrest warrant in absentia against a suspect identified by his initials as M.R.

Last month, the Lebanese Armed Forces arrested Naim Abbas following a period of intense surveillance.

Abbas admitted to the existence of an explosives-rigged Toyota RAV-4 parked in Beirut’s Tariq al-Jedide, and revealed the existence of other rigged cars. Abbas also confirmed that he was connected to a number of bombings, according to a statement from army command.

Jammal Daftardar was not taken to Sawwan's office due to his health condition.
