Tension prevails in
Ain al-Hilweh

BEIRUT - A Palestinian man was shot on Monday in Sidon’s Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp which had witnessed tension all day following the deployment of gunmen in most of the camp’s areas.

The National News Agency explained that a Palestinian man from the Al-Saadi family fired gunshots at Ali Abou al-Kaml in the camp’s Al-Sharea al-Tehtani.
                                                                                           
Kaml was later transferred to the Al-Nidaa al-Insani Hospital inside the camp for treatment, the state news agency added.

Tension prevailed on Monday in the Ain al-Hilweh camp as gunmen deployed in most of the camp’s streets, and UNRWA schools closed their doors, MTV reported.

Intensive meetings were held between various parties to resolve the issue of assassinations inside the camp, the station added.

Later Monday afternoon, reports emerged that gunmen attempted to assassinate a Jund al-Sham member identified as Ali Farhoud.

The incident came a day after an unknown masked gunman shot three members of the Fatah Movement in the Sidon camp, triggering a clash between the Fatah Movement and Jund as-Sham members.

The report also said that intensive meetings were held between various parties to resolve the issue of assassinations inside the camp.
