BEIRUT – Demonstrations against the Bashar al-Assad regime sprung up at multiple locations across Syria on Friday, calling for the regime's downfall, the release of prisoners and the unification of rebel factions.

Opposition protesters criticized the truce underway in the country, expressed solidarity with areas recently captured by government forces and voiced dissent in general in scenes reminiscent of the early days of the uprising.

An internationally-brokered ceasefire that began on Saturday has seen a dramatic, but not complete, drop-off in Russian and and regime bombardment of rebel-held areas in Syria, allowing beleaguered residents to once again take to the streets.

The following videos represent a sample of what had been posted online by mid-afternoon local time following the end of Friday Muslim communal prayers.
