A car bomb exploded in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh on Tuesday morning, injuring at least 53 people.

 

Hezbollah's Al-Manar television reported that the car bomb went off in a parking lot near the Islamic Cooperation Center in the Bir al-Abed area of Dahiyeh.

 

The explosion in the Hezbollah-stronghold comes as Shiite Muslims who follow the late Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah begin the holy month of Ramadan.
