Oh Palestine, don’t die just yet...

One almost forgets the names, addresses and blood-stained faces, which have become as common as a tattoo on a stranger’s arm. The plight of Gaza’s children are the same as those of the children who died in Yarmouk, Homs or [Damascus’] Ghouta under the rubble and billowing smoke. We have grown accustomed to their shredded bodies, the only minor difference being Israel’s professional and minute choice in terms of time and place. The same state claiming to be democratic has thus acquired great accuracy in killing and destruction under the pretext of fighting terrorists, a broken record player that has been rehashed and replayed by all killers.

Whether it’s Ramadan or the World Cup, Palestinians now know they should prepare a shroud, a loaf of bread and some roses, if available, on destroyed rooftops and balconies.

Following a prolonged absence, Arab media rediscover Palestine, only this time Palestinian blood has faded colors and these new media outlets will only be able to air it after some filtering to make it suitable for live coverage. Everyone has an agenda of their own. Some have recourse to Julia Boutros’ repertoire and some old songs earmarked especially for the occasion. Some claim they care about maintaining the balance and credibility. Others denounce and curse before reverting to silence and sleep… Arab regimes are now busy defeating their own peoples after some youths tried to derail the show… People who are away from the spotlight are now confused: Who is shelling whom? What about chemical and biological weapons? What about the other weapons that appeared all of a sudden? Are these only to be used on national occasions?

Oh Palestine, please stand in the rear… We do not have time to grieve for you now… you have become an expert in waiting so do not violate the rules… Stay where you are, poor, wounded and violated. Do not shout, for we do not have time for you… We are busy now… We are trying to rewind events back to the first scene. Ali and Omar could not find a solution so they had recourse to us to decide which one of the two is more worthy to become Abu Bakr’s successor.

All parties claiming a connection to Allah are here and leaving a trail of victims on all fronts in their search for the Caliph’s successor. Oh Palestine, death comes but faster than the wind in the desert and faraway mountains.

Everyone is now busy defending the Sayyeda Zeinab shrine or thinking about how to destroy it… And everyone has discovered enough legends to justify preserving or bombing this shrine…

In this crowded atmosphere, we even forgot to keep tabs on news about Haifa and Myriam or take part in the motorcades celebrating the world cup winners… You, oh Palestine, insist on keeping wounds open… You should rather remain silent and invoke Allah’s assistance… Leave the missiles alone and go back to your coop… Like well-behaved chicken, go to bed early and do not wake up until the occupation says so… You are still alive… Isn’t that enough?

Oh Palestine, there will be no rebels defending your cause abroad and you can cry all you want, but no one will hear you. So save your breath, for there are long days ahead; the border is closed and you are as lonely as a desert tree.

If we stay alive and manage to survive the ignorance stifling us from all sides, we will write a joyful rebel song for you and raise victory banners in a video clip directed expertly in order to gloss over the truth… So leave me alone now, go back to your squeaking bed and don’t you dare make a sound.

Israel is claiming to be democratic has thus acquired great accuracy in killing and destruction under the pretext of fighting terrorists, a broken record player that has been rehashed and replayed by all killers. Your article may be ok but a statement like this one shows that you have a tunnel view. It is the HAMAS that puts civilians in harms way and abuses them as human shields. If you don't learn to be objective you will never advance
