Israel’s Peres “surprised” his country
blamed for Dahiyeh explosion

Israeli President Shimon Peres on Friday voiced his surprise that Lebanon had been blaming Israel for the explosion that ripped through Beirut’s Dahiyeh on Thurday.

“Peres said in a meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Friday that he was surprised to learn that the Lebanese president had blamed Israel,” Israeli YNet news reported.

The veteran Israeli official’s comments come in response to his Lebanese counterpart Michel Suleiman’s statement that the attack bore the mark of an Israeli operation.

A number of other Lebanese officials also blamed the Jewish State for the attack that left at least 22 people dead and over 200 injured.
