Geagea calls for limiting weapons
in army’s hands

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Thursday congratulated the Lebanese army on its anniversary, and called for limiting weapons in the military institution’s hands.

“The weapons should be exclusively in the hands of the Lebanese army and the legitimate powers, and strategic decisions should be made only by the Lebanese state and its institutions,” Geagea said in a statement.

“The army is the only party that is legitimately authorized to defend the land and protect the people from any external aggression,” he added.

The LF leader also called for providing the army with moral and material support.

“The state, the people and all countries of the world [are called to] provide the necessary cover and support for the Lebanese army and to contribute in equipping it,” Geagea said.

The army is the only party that is legitimately authorized to defend the land and protect the people from any external aggression.
