Free Sunnis of Baalbek warn Lebanese
army against targeting Tfeil

BEIRUT – The Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigades warned the Lebanese Armed Forces against targeting the residents of the besieged town of Tfeil.

“In case [the residents of Tfeil are targeted], we will defend the honorable Sunnis of Tfeil,” the little-known Sunni terror group said on their Twitter account on Tuesday.

They also said: “[We] are ready to sacrifice [ourselves] to defend Sunnis in case they were targeted by the army.”

Earlier in the day, the LAF and Internal Security Forces gathered in Brital’s square and headed to the town of Tfeil in order to evacuate the wounded and whoever wishes to leave it.

On Monday, Interior Minister Nohad Mashnouq announced that implementation of a plan to aid residents of Tfeil would begin on Tuesday morning.

Over 4,000 Lebanese citizens and 10,000 Syrian refugees are currently under siege in the border town of Tfeil, and have lived without supplies of food, electricity, shelter, or aid for four months.

The Free Sunnis of Baalbek in recent months have claimed a number of attacks in the Beqaa, however Hezbollah along with the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Nusra Front have denied the group exists.

[We] are ready to sacrifice [ourselves] to defend Sunnis.
