Assir video address
angers Sidon residents

The YouTube video of Ahmad al-Assir.

BEIRUT – The YouTube video of fugitive radical Sunni cleric Ahmad al-Assir was met with condemnation by the residents of his home city of Sidon.

Sidon clergymen denounced Assir’s words, in which he attacked the army, Future Movement MP Bahia Hariri, the Lebanese judiciary, and the March 14 coalition, NOW’s correspondent reported.

“These statements are irresponsible,” a clergymen said Sunday during Maghrib Prayer.

Assir and his followers clashed with the Lebanese Armed Forces in Sidon in June 2013, killing 18 soldiers.

The Islamist cleric has been on the run ever since, and speculation continues regarding his whereabouts.

So one clergyman (whose name you didn't identify) said that "These statements are irresponsible" and you decided that all of Sidon residents were angered by Assir's address? Great journalism NOW, keep up the good work!

He is probably hiding in Hariri's Paris apartment.
