Army stops car carrying RPG
rounds headed for Arsal

BEIRUT – The Lebanese Armed Forces stopped a car headed for the North Beqaa town of Arsal on the Al-Namleh bridge Thursday and discovered a cargo of rocket propelled grenades and ammunition.

 

“The Lebanese army stopped a car on the Al-Namleh bridge driven by Lebanese citizen Bilal Hasan Khalaf [who] was headed for Arsal,” the National News Agency reported.

 

“5 RPG rounds and ammunition of various calibers were seized from the car.”

 

Arsal, near the border with Syria, has become a key transit point for weapons and Syrian rebels.
