Army arrests man involved
in Iranian embassy bombing

BEIRUT - The Lebanese Armed Forces arrested on Saturday a man who allegedly has contact with one of the suspects in the Iranian embassy bombing case.

The man was identified as Mustafa H. and is a supporter of Sunni cleric Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir, the National News Agency reported.

Mustafa Hanqir was arrested in order to investigate his relation with Mouin Abou Thahr after he was seen in a photograph with him, security sources told Al-Jadeed television.

Two explosions rocked southern Beirut on November 19 near the Iranian embassy, killing over 25 people and injuring 147 others.

The bombings, the responsibility for which was claimed by the Al-Qaeda-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades, have drawn nation-wide and international condemnation.
